Von jener Extravaganz, die Guy Bourdins kunstvoll inszenierte Modefotografien auszeichnete, ist in diesem Bildband mit frühen Arbeiten des Pariser Fotografien noch nichts zu spüren, berichtet Rezensent Maximilian Sippenauer beglückt über diesen im Nachlass entdeckten Fund. Vielmehr bestechen die hier versammelten Schwarz-Weiß-Aufnahmen aus den Jahren 1950 bis 1955 durch Stille, "Schlichtheit" und zurückgenommene Beobachtungen, erzählt der Kritiker, der in den surreal anmutenden geometrischen Zergliederungen des menschlichen Körpers bereits die Charakteristik der späteren Fotografien, aber auch einen Hauch von "Schwermut" entdeckt.
